Approximately 150 information security experts and government officials from the US, Western and Eastern Europe will meet in Munich October 25 – 28 to discuss the challenges of cyber security and the protection of critical information infrastructure.
The conference, entitled “Cyber Security: Dimensions of Critical Infrastructure Protection” will address the fact that cyber attacks have not only disrupted electronic commerce, but also diminished public confidence in the ability of governments and industry to counter the cyber threats. This conference will build on the success of the March 2004 conference, Political-Military Dimensions of Cyber Security, to further identify areas of mutual concern that require close partnership; examine methodologies and processes for cyber security cooperation; and build consensus for moving ahead in academic, industry-to-government, government-to-government, and military-to-military cooperation. Participants will be from private industry and government agencies involved with cyber security.
The Marshall Center is sponsoring the conference in collaboration with the U.S. European Command and the office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Networks and Information Integration. The conference will be a series of moderated plenary sessions with open panel discussions and facilitated workgroup sessions. All conference presentations will be translated into English, German, and Russian.
