Lamy is a major German design brand with international prominence, standing for innovation, quality and modern design. The brand’s underlying principle is that form follows function, heavily influenced by the Bauhaus movement (a modern approach to design that operated between 1919 and 1933). Numerous designs in the Lamy product range have won awards including the Pico (red dot award for design), and the Studio (‘Good Design Award’ and the ‘iF’ Design award in 2005). Many of the designs such as the 2000 (since 1966) and Safari (since 1980) have been implemented continuously since their inception. Several noted designers have produced pen designs, including Richard Sapper (designer of the ThinkPad) who designed the Dialog1.
