North Korea Test Fires Missile into Sea of Japan
(2005-05-01)
CNN
White House chief of staff Andrew Card has announced there was a test firing of a North Korean missile that landed in the Sea of Japan.
"We're not surprised by this. The North Koreans have tested their missiles before. They've had some failures."
North Korea has refused nuclear talks with South Korea, the US, China, Japan and Russia until Washington apologizes for comments by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice describing the country as one of the world's "outposts of tyranny".
Curtis Cooper, the US State Department spokesman said "We are continuing to look into this" and added "We have long been concerned about North Korea's missile program and activities, and urge North Korea to continue its moratorium" on testing.
